Two quotes for the same case can differ by several thousand dirhams and both be honest. The difference is usually not the aligners; it is what the number includes. A figure that covers only the trays looks cheaper than one that covers the whole treatment, right up until the point where everything else gets added.
At The Nook the quote is for the treatment, from records to retention. That means the clinical examination, scan, photographs and X-rays that produce the diagnosis. It means the treatment planning itself, which is where the case is actually decided. It means every aligner in the series, every appointment along the way, and the retainers at the end.
Retention is part of the treatment, not a separate purchase. Teeth drift for a lifetime and a result you do not hold is a result you will lose. A quote that stops at the last tray has stopped one step short of finishing the job.
Refinements are additional trays produced partway through, once we can see how your teeth have actually responded. They are common, they are not a sign that something went wrong, and they are planned for rather than discovered.
This is the single item most worth asking about when you compare quotes. If refinements are charged separately, a case that needs two rounds costs considerably more than the headline figure suggested. Ask the question directly and get the answer in writing.
Some things sit outside orthodontic treatment because they are different treatment. General dental work comes first: fillings, a root canal, a crown that needs replacing. Gum treatment where it is needed. Extractions, if your case requires them. Whitening, if you want it at the end.
Replacing a retainer you have lost, or a lost aligner outside the normal sequence, is also separate. None of this is hidden, it is simply not orthodontics.
Aligner treatment is priced on what the case needs, principally the number of trays, which follows from how far your teeth have to travel. This is why the same clinic quotes different figures to different patients, and why nobody can give you an accurate number before the records exist.
For reference, orthodontic treatment at The Nook currently starts at On assessment for aligners and From AED 4,000 for fixed braces. Your figure is confirmed in writing after the assessment, and it does not move afterwards.
Orthodontics runs over a year or more, and the fee is normally spread across that period rather than paid upfront. If insurance covers part of your treatment, we will tell you what is claimable and what is not before you commit rather than after.
Whether you treat with us or not, these are the questions that make two quotes comparable:
Does the fee include records and diagnosis, or are they billed separately? Does it include refinement trays, and how many? Does it include retainers? What happens to the fee if the case takes longer than planned? Who is treating me, and are they a specialist orthodontist? What is charged if I need to pause treatment or leave the country?
A clinic that answers all six plainly is a clinic you can compare. One that will not is telling you something.
Before you commit to anything: the diagnosis, the proposed plan with the simulation, the realistic timeline, the total fee and what it covers, and the payment schedule. You take it away and think about it. Nothing about an orthodontic decision needs to be made in the chair.
Yes. Retention is part of the treatment, not an optional extra, and the retainers at the end of your treatment are included.
No. Refinements are part of the planned treatment. This is worth checking wherever you go, because it is the item most often excluded from a headline price.
The quoted fee is confirmed in writing after your assessment and does not move. Separate dental work, such as fillings or extractions your case requires, is quoted separately.
Yes. Orthodontic treatment runs over a year or more and the fee is normally spread across that period.
It depends entirely on your policy. Many plans exclude orthodontics or cap it. We will tell you what is claimable before you commit, not after.
Because the cost follows the case, and the case is established by the records. Any figure given before the scan is a guess.
